New Promise Lutheran Church St George, Utah

New Promise Youth & Family Ministry strives to partner with you to grow and develop the faith of your child and all who come through the door of New Promise Lutheran Church. Here, dedicated staff, volunteers and parents make the various programs a success. Our deepest desire is for each child to know the love of God in Christ and understand that at church, they are loved and cared for by the community that gathers here.

Children's Ministry wants to partner with families -- from kids to adults -- on this faith journey. We pray continuously for the safety, well-being and growth of the children in Sunday School, Confirmation and through the various youth activities offered throughout the year.

Youth Opportunities (grades 6-12)

Confirmation – New Promise offers a 3 year learning experience for youth grades 6–8 bi-weekly on Sundays through which he/she examines his or her own faith through study and exploration of the tenets of the Christian faith. In the Fall of the 9th grade year, they are then invited to stand and affirm their faith and be confirmed as an adult member of the church. The class is taught by a pastor and parents are asked to take an active roll in ensuring each student completes the required service hours and sermon notes that are built in as part of the class curriculum. Each summer the students participate in a weekend retreat which is instrumental in building momentum for the year ahead and for establishing group dynamics.

Dig Deep – is a Sunday morning conversation for youth grades 6 – 12 that meets at Promise House. Each Sunday there is conversation around a faith topic relevant and applicable to life today.

Youth Group Gatherings – once a month the youth gather for a fellowship or service event. Past events have included: mini-golf, game nights, movie nights, tubing, hiking, 30 Hour Famine, Clean the World in Las Vegas and more.

Children’s Opportunities (thru grade 5)

Sunday School – for children pre-K through the 5th grade. Sunday School meets at 9 a.m. with a short intergenerational time together then breaks at 9:10 – 10:00 a.m. for separate learning. Children might find themselves in cooking, science, carpentry, art, video, Bible or storytelling class where they will learn the Biblical story through hands on, multi-sensory learning. Sunday School is offered during the school year only. (Plans for fall 2021 are still unknown.)

First & Third Fridays – Children gather for games, bible stores, crafts and more. Meets at the church from 3-4 pm the first and third Friday of each month. Call Pastor Jill for more info.
