Witness/Outreach

Mission Statement

God calls us, in community, to be Christ's presence in the world. We prayerfully seek His wisdom: and in light of Christ's Love we reach out to people in physical, emotional or spiritual need.

Social Justice activities and ministries: World Hunger Appeal, Disaster Relief, Dixie Care & Share food pantry, Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Alterative Gift Giving, Angel Tree Ministry, Prayer Chain.

Evangelism ministries: 4 Minute Visits, Publicity, Ecumenical community and worldwide programs.

Hosts in God’s House:

We are all hosts here at New Promise in God’s house. As hosts, we want to make all guests comfortable with special consideration to new or first time guests. Showing them around the facility; restrooms, nursery and the fellowship area are ways we can make them feel welcome. Offer to sit with them during worship, invite them to join you for the Adult Forum, and for refreshments in the fellowship hall. See to it that they have refreshments and introduce them to others. As hosts in God’s house, it is up to us to make our guests feel welcome and invited back any time. Please join with us in being hosts in God’s house!

Our Intentional 4 Minute Visit Ministry

This Ministry needs your help!

Life is about relationships; sometimes we can get a bit too comfortable and forget to be aware of those around us in worship. A stranger may need a hand shake and a smile. Being a Christian is a call to community – it’s all about relationships – our relationship to God, our neighbor, the person in line at the store, our families, fellow members and the stranger in our midst. Our call is to be intentional and purposeful in our ministry.

"… I was a stranger and you invited me in, …." Matthew 25: 35b

On Sunday morning - We welcome the stranger and greet the traveler with a warm handshake and a friendly smile. The greeters at the door offer visitors a "Guest" tag and ask them to sign our Guest Book. Then, we take the time through our 4 Minute Visiting teams, for a lay person visit, before a pastor makes their visit.

This important ministry is one way you can be intentional and purposeful in welcoming the stranger to our church and the community. New Promise gives them a connection. One visitor said, "I felt so welcomed, someone from the congregation took the time to bring us information and cookies!" Another first time visitor said: "Oh! I’m so far out of town; I didn’t think I’d get a visit!" Just the fact that someone took the extra effort, an hour or so out of their Sunday afternoon to visit, demonstrates Christ’s loving presence.

Please prayerfully consider serving in this ministry! Your visit can make all the difference in our guests feeling welcomed. Join us! For information and training, please see Janine Leuthauser
